Icebreaker
"Story Dice Roll"
This story telling exercise requires students to use their quick thinking skills! Students rolled the dice to get their story's Character, Setting, and problem. Each student had 3 minutes to tell a story in front of class using all 3 elements they rolled, while providing the missing story elements like plot and resolution. Students encouraged to use their skills learned in last class to present their story.
Daily Activity
Note-taking - "Preparing for the Science Fair"
Students were again challenged to use their note-taking skills while watching a Science Fair Prep video. Students were informed that their note-taking will be an important step in the Major Project in class today and next week. While note-taking, students needed to brainstorm mock science projects of their own to exhibit in class next week.
Major Project
Science Project - Day 1
After watching the video and taking notes, students were given a list of items to complete for their mock science project.
- Brainstorm - Think of ideas that are easy to do in our class as a mock science project, keep it simple.
- Schedule - Create a schedule for your mock science project; buy these items on this day, test this hypothesis on this date, results by this date, etc.
- Outline Presentation - Provide an outline of your presentation using Ms. Adrienne's Writing Guide
- Call to action - Think of a call to action for your audience with you project; reduce waste, carbon foot print, etc.
Students worked on each item going down the list. Students to pick up where we left off today in class, next week. Students were to take schedule and outline as homework if not completed in class.
